These squads are held during school terms and are suitable for swimmers who have completed Learn to Swim.

Shark

Providing a smooth transition from learn to swim, this is a development program in preparation for competitive swimming and progressing to competitive squads. All four competitive strokes, turns and starts will be developed, endurance and speed will improve. Squad training skills and lap etiquette are also covered with the opportunity to join the SOPAC Swim Team. Interclub and specific race meets are available.

Frequency: 1-2 times a week

Cost per class: $20

Three sessions per week: 50% off the third session

Training times: 
Mon - Fri: 4pm - 5pm & 5pm - 6pm
Sat: 8:45am - 9:45am
Sun: 8:15am - 9:15am & 9:15am -10:15am

Swim Fit

A non-competitive fitness squad for swimmers aged between 12 - 18 years of age wishing to maintain a healthy active lifestyle whilst further developing their stroke techniques. Swimmers also have the opportunity throughout the term to develop skills for their school swimming carnival. Swim Fit is divided into 3 different levels:

Swim Fit One: 6.30pm - 7.45pm
For swimmers new to “squad training” and not yet proficient in all 4 strokes. Swimmers generally swim between 1000m and 1200m per session with repeat lengths of between 25m and 50m.

Swim Fit Two: 6.30pm - 8.00pm
For swimmers competent in all 4 strokes and have an understanding of starts, turns and reading the pace clock. Swimmers generally swim between 1400m and 1800m per session with repeat lengths of 50m and 100m.

Swim Fit Three: 6.30pm - 8.00pm
For swimmers competent in all 4 strokes and in their starts and turns. Swimmers are expected to read the pace clock and generally swim between 1800m and 2400m per session with repeat lengths beginning at 50m and up to 200m.

Frequency 1 - 2 times a week

  • Throughout the term, Swimmers are reviewed by their coach, under the guidance of our Head Coach, on a number of different skills. If there is a recommendation to move Squads, you will be contacted and encouraged to make this change during re-enrolment period.
  • Swim Fit coaches are fully credited and licenced through the Australian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association (ASCTA) and through the Australian Sports Commissions National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS). Coaches work under the guidance of our Head Coach.
     

Cost per class: $21

Important note: Any illness or injury must be reported to your Coach or Swim School Office prior to training commencing.

How to Enrol

New Students

Current Students 

Enrol at the Swim School Office prior to participating in training sessions.

Re-enrolment required on a term-by-term basis at the Swim School Office.

Following enrolment confirmation, swimmers and parents will be issued with an entry card, enabling access to the Centre on your child’s designated training day and times.

Entry Cards

Entry cards need to be presented at the Service Desk to gain entry for your squad session. Your entry cards cannot be used for access to the Centre outside of your training times. Lost or stolen cards are the responsibility of the cardholder and a $6 fee will be charged for a replacement card. Non Competitive Squads Terms and Conditions
