Recycled water infrastructure temporary shutdown – Monday 4 May 2026

Sydney Olympic Park’s recycled water network is undergoing major remediation to address ageing infrastructure and ensure the long term reliability of this essential service.

As part of these works, the recycled water network will be temporarily shut down for up to 24-hours, from 5:00am on 4 May 2026 to 4:49am on 5 May 2026. During this period, recycled water will be unavailable for toilet flushing and garden irrigation. Drinking water from taps and sinks will not be affected.  

This outage will affect Sydney Olympic Park, Newington and parts of Wentworth Point. Wentworth Point residents will receive a notification from Sydney Water if affected by this outage. For more information, visit our mySOP Site Works page and click on the FAQ’s button.

    Meatstock - Friday 1 and Saturday 2 May 2026
    Midnight Mafia: The Empire State– Saturday 2 May 2026

    Please be advised Sydney Showground will host Meatstock on Friday 1 May from 4pm to midnight. Midnight Mafia: The Empire State will also be held at Sydney Showground on Saturday 2 May from 4pm to midnight.

    In addition, note there may be intermittent noise on Friday 1 May due to sound testing. For sound level enquiries during event times please contact the Event Noise Hotline on 02 9714 7310.

  • Concord West Playground – partial closure
    A section of the Concord West Playground in Bicentennial Park (as shown below) is currently closed while maintenance works are carried out to help keep the area safe for everyone to enjoy.

    These works are expected to be completed around mid 2026. We appreciate your understanding while this work takes place.

  • On Exhibition: Department of Education Review of Environmental Factors for the Newington Public School Update

    The planning application, known as a Review of Environmental Factors (REF), for Newington Public School upgrade is on public exhibition on the NSW Planning Portal for Division 5.1 (Part 5) Activities from Wednesday 15 April 2026 to Tuesday 5 May 2026.

    To view the plans, visit the Part 5 planning panel at edu.nsw.link/NewingtonPS-REF. If you wish to make a submission, please do so by the exhibition closing date, 5 May 2026.
